Marian Friedl / bandleader

It is dedicated to reviving the playing of forgotten instruments of the Beskydy, music production, music creation, popularization of folk music and improvisation. He performs on double bass, clarinet, folk flutes, bagpipes, kobza, small dulcimer and other instruments in genres ranging from classical music, folk music, world music and jazz.

His lifelong passion is the flute instruments of Wallachian shepherds, in which he found the forgotten sound of the Beskydy hills. Since the age of fifteen, he has gathered his experience in this field by visiting producers and players on the Czech-Slovak-Polish border, researching museum and private collections, listening to recordings, studying literature, and creating his own instruments and music.
